Where is the Bioshock movie?

February 9, 2008 at 12:17 pm (Games)

Bioshock, it won awards. Hell it was pretty much the consensus game of the year. So you would think that a movie would be made so fast it would make your head spin. And yet so far, nothing. Is it because there isn’t an interest in the movie? Nope, it’s because no proposal has been good enough so far. Ben Fritz from Variety is reporting that, “you’d be hard pressed to find a production company, studio, or agency with at least one videogame savvy employee that isn’t interested in BioShock”. So it is trying to get made, but Take 2 wants this to be the best possible movie that it can be. Probably be hard to do since most studios want love stories in their scripts and Bioshock a love story is not. I’ll try to keep you hungry hippos posted on any more news when they come out.

Trinity by DC is their new weekly, makes it three weekly comics

February 9, 2008 at 12:02 pm (Comics)

Starting June, DC will be publishing a new weekly series called Trinity. It will feature as its main characters Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Being written by Kurt Busiek and drawn by Mark Bagley, it will mainly be a exploration of the history of these important characters and their impact on the DC universe over the past few years. DCU Executive Editor Dan Didio claims the goal with this new comic is to, “bring the focus back to these three characters, both individually and together to understand why they are the three greatest characters in comics.” One may wonder whether this comic series will in any way alter or shape how Final Crisis is told and Dan Didio says that this series will indeed be on its own, occurring inside of the DC universe, but not related to the events of Final Crisis. I’m pretty excited about the series overall as these characters hold a near and dear spot in my heart. With the impending Batman sequel, Superman sequel and Justice League movie, seems like the best thing to do would be to shine the spotlight on these characters.

Rob Zombie to remake Conan?

February 9, 2008 at 11:45 am (Movies)

Rob Zombie, whom I happen to be a fan of, is in talks to perhaps be the director for the remake of Conan the Barbarian, a movie best known for starring the future governor of California and being about a half-naked man who wields a greatsword. I kid of course, as I am excited to see this movie as well. However, when news of the potential director hit the wire, there were a great many people who were objected to it. Sure, Rob Zombie hasn’t proved himself to be a Oscar-winning director, nor has he done any other genre of film besides horror. But I think that he could definitely do this. Sure, maybe his movies are very simple (a mild way of putting it) and maybe his movies contain a bevy of curse words and sexual themes, but I have come to really enjoy his sadistic characters that he fleshes out onto the big screen. If those were his starting films (after all, he used to be a metal singer), then I have hope for him. Only way to tell would be to see his next movie I guess.

Ever wonder what a Stormtrooper/Samurai looks like?

February 9, 2008 at 11:27 am (Electronics)

Well then I will show you. Yoshi Isao is the man to give credit to and yes, I do realize that this doesn’t exactly fit in the Electronics category but news aka news that I deem worthy is in short supply today. So I am posting this. Plus, it just looks awesome, doesn’t it? It’s on display currently at the Gift Show 2008 in Tokyo, Japan. The pictures are after the jump! Read the rest of this entry »
