Oh sweet baby Jesus, Mass Effect for the PC

February 12, 2008 at 11:45 am (Games)

In news that makes me feel all tingly inside, Mass Effect has finally been announced for the PC. Due to come out in May of this year, this is indeed very exciting news. Since it is a port, one wonders what new features or tweaks will be made to further the experience of the game. Hi-res visuals, assigned hotkeys for your powers, a new decryption mini-game and a new inventory screen GUI. Feeling giddy yet? Oh man, May can’t come soon enough.

Stéphane Peru dies at the age of 26.

February 12, 2008 at 11:36 am (Comics)

In some tragic news, Mr. Peru has died with what seems to be a heart attack. Odd seeing as how he was so young, but not entirely unheard of. Peru was known for his outstanding colorist work on such titles as: Ultimate X-Men, Incredible Hercules, Annihilation: Conquest and Annihilation: Conquest – Quasar, Avengers: The Initiative, Civil War: X-Men and and DC’s Teen Titans: Year One, 52, The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive and All Flash. He’s done some amazing work and I was definitely one of his fans. He will indeed be sorely missed. My condolences go out to the family. R.I.P. Stéphane Peru.

Dubai = Futuristic?

February 12, 2008 at 11:21 am (Electronics)

I’ll admit. I must be out of the loop when it comes to futuristic cities. Upon hearing that Minneapolis is one of the most technologically advanced places in the U.S., I just kind of scratched my head. So of course, upon hearing that Dubai is really pushing the envelope, I could only invoke the same reaction. They are beginning construction on a new bridge that is sure to blow the minds of any bridgephile (not sure if that’s a word). Envisioned by NY architecture firm Fxfowle, it stands 670 feet tall and stretches for one mile long. They will start building it in about a month and it will not be finished until the year of 2012 after it drains $817 million dollars. Yikes. I’m sure you want to see pictures of this thing. But be forewarned, its so gorgeous it might sear your eyes out. Pictures after the jump earth creature. Read the rest of this entry »

Murray out, Eccleston in.

February 12, 2008 at 11:10 am (Movies)

David Murray, who was cast to be Destro in the upcoming film, G.I. Joe, was forced to withdraw from the production due to some visa problems. Instead of delaying the production, they have cast Chris Eccleston for the role (he’s in Heroes, the guy who turns invisible) and are now continuing with production. He was last seen in The Dark is Rising playing as the villain in that story so hopefully he can continue on with that mindset.
