Tired of carrying a hard mouse? Try Inflatimouse!

January 31, 2008 at 12:48 pm (Electronics)

The Jellyclick concept was shown today and boy does that baby seem impractical. Apparently, the reason behind its development was to bring a new level of portability while toting around a full-sized mouse. All of the circuitry fits inside of a small flexible board and as for the mouse body? You blow it up of course! When you are done with it, you just deflate it, and store inside of your laptop or pocket or something. Doesn’t this just seem weird to anyone out there? I mean, a mouse can’t be that hard to carry around. A regular mouse would also feel better in the hand and (in my opinion) work better. Besides, don’t people usually carry their laptop in a case nowadays? One thing to note, people who smoke or have asthma should probably stick to a normal mouse.

Starcraft Online?

January 31, 2008 at 12:34 pm (Games)

China’s leading online gaming operator Netease is trying to import some foreign games to enhance their current collection. The game they wish to import? None other than a “Starcraft Online.” This was quoted from an “inside source” so do take this information with a grain of salt. However, it doesn’t seem too far fetched does it? According to Blizzards main site, they were looking for developers for a “massive multiplayer online game” that wasn’t World of Warcraft. And the only games that would fit the bill would have been either Starcraft or Diablo. So it definitely could be Starcraft just like it definitely could be Diablo. The way I see it, most likely it is going to be Diablo though. They are already making a Starcraft 2 so it just seems sort of unlikely that they would make a Starcraft Online. Just my two cents though.

Del Toro pretty much confirmed for The Hobbit.

January 31, 2008 at 12:19 pm (Movies)

So nothing is exactly official yet but theonering has pretty much “confirmed” that Del Toro will indeed be the new director to the Lord of the Rings prequel barring anything unforeseen. So far, he has yet to work on the film yet however, due to a frustrating delay going on (I’m looking at you WGA). In my own humble opinion, I’m pleasantly surprised. Sure, Peter Jackson set the bar pretty high but Del Toro has also made some pretty spiffy movies so far. It would be interesting to see this movie envisioned through someone else’s eyes for a change. Del Toro’s recent project, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, looks to be solid as well. Let’s cross our fingers eh?

Top Cow’s Pilot Season is a hit.

January 31, 2008 at 12:08 pm (Comics)

Top Cow announced via their myspace page that the final tally for their Pilot Season event was a huge success coming in with an astounding 4.1 million votes. In case you are scratching your head as to what this Pilot Season is, Top Cow created five one issue comics of five different characters who were established in the Top Cow community, but they didn’t have a ongoing series. The issues were meant to be a preview of things to come, much like a pilot episode for a television show. Fans were asked to vote for two series that they felt to be the best and the winners would each receive their own ongoing series by established creative teams within Top Cow. To find out more about Pilot Season, be sure to visit their site at http://www.myspace.com/pilotseason.

Quesada does Colbert…again.

January 30, 2008 at 12:19 pm (Comics)

Joe Quesada appeared on the Colbert Report last night to discuss the reincarnation of the new Captain America (he died, remember?) and to dish out some information on the growing presence of the Skrulls since the new Marvel event will have to deal with the Skrull Invasion. In case you didn’t know what a Skrull was, Wikipedia has some great information here but in case you don’t feel like reading all of that, they are basically shape-shifting aliens who hate humans. Go figure. Video can be found here.

One, Two Freddy’s…..Being Remade

January 30, 2008 at 12:06 pm (Movies)

In some slightly disturbing news, New Line has announced that they will be working with Michael Bay (yes, that Michael Bay) to bring back a venerated horror series, A Nightmare on Elm Street. I grew up with these films and I loved them. Sure, I’m all about remaking classics but with Michael Bay? Has New Line seen the films he’s made? Transformers? Pearl Harbor? Does this guy even make horror movies? Well anywho, squabbles aside, I still hope it will be a good movie. Freddy needs the love people. In a side note, it is interesting to see that not only will Bay be directing this movie, but also producing the remakes of The Birds and Friday the 13th. Possible career change? Only time will tell…

Just Two?

January 30, 2008 at 11:49 am (Games)

I’m going to be forward with you right now and tell you that Starcraft 2 is probably the only game I am actually very excited for. Seeing as how I played the first installment for the better part of my teen years. Blizzard has just released two new screenshots for the game and that is about it. Well, I mean, they have released those trailers and gameplay footage, sure. But we need more Blizz! Give us an extended trailer! Wallpapers! Information on the Zerg! No release date has yet to be announced for Starcraft 2 but with all things indicating that it could come out late this year or early next year. Guess we just have to wait, right? Oh, by the way, the character shown in the two pictures is none other than the main protagonist Jim Raynor. Looks beefy. Hit that link up for those screens. Read the rest of this entry »

THE remote.

January 30, 2008 at 11:36 am (Electronics)

I don’t know about you good reader, but I have just enough remotes to lose them whenever I need them. Of course, that could be due to the lack of short term memory on my part or due to my rather messy nature as a human being. Either way, I lose them. So when Windows releases a remote like this, it makes me want to rethink my current situation. This baby has Wi-Fi, a web browser, Java, Flash, and more buttons than you can shake a stick at. With a ton of features and a sleek design, it definitely looks like something I can back up.

GT5 Prologue News, Goody!

January 29, 2008 at 7:50 pm (Games)

Come April 17 (well in North America that is), we will indeed be graced with the presence of Gran Turismo 5…Prologue that is. While the words Prologue might not inspire feelings of awe for the game, do know that it is still a hefty amount of content for the 40$ price tag. This little taste of GT5 will include 60 vehicles, support of up to 16 cars for online racing hotness and full 1080hd goodness. The 1080hd will definitely come in handy for when you switch into the first person view for as true to life experience you can get without all the crashing and burning and wrecking. Hit that more button for some GORGEOUS stills Read the rest of this entry »

Hoorah! G.I. Joe

January 29, 2008 at 7:30 pm (Movies)

So it was announced today that Dennis Quaid has indeed been drafted into the ongoing ensemble cast of G.I. Joe as the battle hardened General Hawk. Also confirmed was Channing Tatum as Duke, the central character of the story. I dunno guys/gals. This cast just seems to get more and more bloated which each passing day. Sure, I enjoy me some Dennis Quaid but Channing Tatum? Wasn’t this kid in that dancing movie? Step Up I believe. Sigh, who knows? Maybe the producers saw something in him that they felt just fit the bill. I’m no hotshot casting man so I can’t really say he’s the wrong fit. Picture of Quaid and Hawk as he appears in the comic books as follows. Read the rest of this entry »
